The doctoral program is  intended for select students who have a Master of Arts (with a written thesis) and are interested in specializing and thoroughly researching a specific subject related to counseling and human development. The program includes a small number of courses and mainly involves writing a research proposal, carrying out the research, and writing the final dissertation guided by a personal supervisor from the department’s faculty. The program takes approximately four years and the university offers its participants several kinds of grants.

Students can also carry out research in the interdisciplinary track in psychoanalysis.

The purpose of the Ph.D. track is to train researchers and lecturers in higher education who will study and teach a specific subject related to counseling and human development. The program involves independent (supervised) research work and completing three or four advanced courses.
