Ph.D. in Child Development
The aim of the program is to provide advanced research training at the doctoral level for professionals working in the field of child development, such as occupational therapists, physiotherapists, communication clinicians, early childhood educators, social workers and nurses, and other developmental sciences..
Doctoral dissertations will combine emotional-social characteristics in the development of children, which are within the area of expertise of the program teachers, along with features based on the fields of knowledge of the health and education professionals. To this end, we encourage students to recruit another facilitator from their own profession.
A Master of Arts with a research thesis in child development or in related fields that deal with children, from a recognized academic institution of higher education in Israel or abroad.
- An average minimum grade of 85 in the candidate’s B.A.
- An average minimum grade of 90 in the candidate’s M.A. and a minimum grade of 90 in the research thesis.
- Two recommendations from academic staff; one of the letters of recommendation will be from the research thesis supervisor.
- Written approval of an agreement with a supervisor from the faculty of the Child Development Program who is willing to guide the candidate’s doctoral dissertation.
- The candidate’s statement of intent regarding the proposed study (up to five pages), approved by the designated supervisor.
- Approval of the Committee for Postgraduate Studies

A. The program awards the title of “Doctor of Philosophy.”
- Candidates have 4 years to complete their research and postgraduate study quota.

- The supervisor may impose exams on the student (written or oral) in courses he is required to attend.
The student will not be able to submit the doctoral dissertation for judging before completing the full study hours required of him.
In the first year, it takes about two or three more hours beyond the school day to experience an infant observation course
Post-graduation employment opportunities: Degree holders will be able to continue to focus on their main area of work while applying the knowledge and tools they have acquired as part of their studies in the interdisciplinary program for child development.
