Master’s degree in Special Education
A Master of Arts in Special Education involves the in-depth study of theoretical models, research, and practical aspects in the various fields of special education, including focusing on developmental disabilities and communication disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, sensory disabilities, and specialization in early childhood. The central aim of the Master of Arts in this department is to create a broad infrastructure of knowledge, thinking, and skills that enable students to fill senior positions in the fields of research and education of populations with special-needs, and to prepare for doctoral studies. The program is based on a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education (or supplementary studies serving as a prerequisite). In order to work in the education system, a teaching certificate is required. Students may study for this certificate within the department. (Studies towards a Master of Arts in Special Education do not unto themselves grant a student a teaching certificate.)
